Dr Lucian Robinson is a Stipendiary Lecturer in History at Brasenose College, University of Oxford. He holds a BA from Oxford, MPhil, and a PhD from the University of Cambridge. Previously, he taught at Lady Margaret Hall (2022-2024), Cardiff University (Modern European History), and Queen Mary University of London (Teaching Fellow).
His research focuses on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century France, particularly historiography, the history of philosophy, and political thought. He explores the philosophical foundations of early French liberalism and eclecticism, emphasizing figures like Victor Cousin and Benjamin Constant, and the reception of German Idealism and Scottish Common Sense Philosophy in France.
His publications include analyses of Germaine de Staël's engagement with Kant and religious themes, as well as studies on François Guizot and Benjamin Constant's interpretations of early Christian history. His work bridges intellectual history and philosophical discourse.
