Lucian Ghita is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at Clemson University, part of the College of Arts and Humanities. He holds an ABD Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Yale University, with research focuses on Shakespeare, avant-garde theater, and AI applications in literary analysis. Ghita has received prestigious awards, including the Gentry Award for Teaching Excellence and the Holman Teaching Award. His research explores intersections of literature, performance, and cultural history, including a collaborative AI project analyzing Shakespeare's works.
Education: ABD Ph.D. Comparative Literature (Yale), M.Phil. Comparative Literature (Yale), M.A. Culture of the European Renaissance (Warwick), M.A. American Studies (Bucharest), B.A. English and Romanian (Craiova).
Research Interests: Shakespearean performance, avant-garde adaptations, AI in humanities, postcolonial literature, and Renaissance drama. He co-leads the AI Shakespeare Project using Watson tools to analyze character and language in Shakespeare's texts.
Awards: Gentry Award (2016), Holman Award (2019), Watt Faculty Fellowship (2019–present), and numerous fellowships including the Lewis Walpole Library Research Fellowship.
Teaching: Courses on British and world literature, Shakespeare, postcolonial studies, and performance. Known for innovative pedagogy, including the 'Roads Less Traveled' study abroad program in East Central Europe.
