Lucia Schwarz

Lucia Schwarz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy and the Murphy Institute at Tulane University. Previously, she held a position as Teaching Assistant Professor in the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) Program at UNC Chapel Hill. She co-directs the PPE Society's Working Group on the Ethical Limits of Academic Inquiry (ELAI). Her research focuses on applied ethics, metaethics, feminist philosophy, political philosophy, political economy, and aesthetics.

Education: PhD in Philosophy (University of Arizona, 2021); BA in Political Science (Regensburg University, 2012). Her work bridges normative ethical theory with contemporary societal issues, including environmental ethics, media representation, and interdisciplinary academic inquiry boundaries.

Key publications explore topics such as ethical veganism critiques, moral paradoxes in horror cinema, and species egalitarianism in environmental ethics. She actively contributes to debates at the intersection of philosophy and public discourse through her academic writing and collaborative initiatives.
