Caroline Arruda is an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Tulane University, with a joint appointment to the Murphy Institute and serving as Director of Graduate Studies for the Department of Philosophy. She previously held an Associate Professor position at the University of Texas at El Paso. Her research focuses on ethics (especially metaethics), philosophy of action, social and political philosophy, feminist philosophy, and bioethics. She has published in venues such as Oxford Studies in Metaethics, Australasian Journal of Philosophy, Ratio, and Synthese.
Education: PhD and MA in Philosophy from SUNY Stony Brook, BA in Philosophy from New College of Florida.
She co-led a grant, 'Beyond Borders: Bringing Latinx Undergraduates into the Philosophy Classroom', funded by the American Philosophical Association in 2019. Her awards include recognition as one of fourteen women philosophers highlighted in the APA’s 2016 'Women in Philosophy' initiative.
Her teaching and research emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to ethics and social philosophy, with a commitment to expanding philosophy education for underrepresented groups.
