Aleksandar Pjevalica is a Lecturer and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He specializes in the philosophy of language, continental philosophy, and feminist theory, with a focus on the intersection of these fields with epistemology and the philosophy of science.
Education:
- B.A. in Philosophy from the University of British Columbia (thesis on Derek Parfit’s personal identity)
- M.A. in Philosophy from Universiteit van Amsterdam (thesis on Paul Ricoeur’s narrative identity)
- Ph.D. dissertation in progress at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, focusing on a descriptivist theory of meaning using philosophical hermeneutics.
Research interests include applying hermeneutic frameworks to linguistic reference, the evolution of scientific knowledge as a progressive process, and feminist philosophical perspectives. He has presented work at conferences like the International Association for Philosophy and Literature and the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis International Workshop and Conference.
