Lucia Corrain is Associate Professor of Semiotics of Art at the University of Bologna (Alma Mater Studiorum) and has been active since 1998, currently also serving as Scientific Advisor to the Museo di Palazzo Poggi. In 2017 she obtained national qualification as first-level professor (ASN) in History of Art (sector 10/B1). From 2010 to 2016 she was President of the Master’s degree course in Visual Arts at Bologna, and between 2001 and 2020 she taught “Modern Art and Architecture” for the Eastern College Consortium (Vassar, Wellesley, Wesleyan) in Bologna.

Research Interests
Her work centres on the modalities of reception of the artistic text, the mechanisms of signification of artworks, and the staging of passions. Current investigations explore the relationship between past and present in artistic production, integrating semiotics, visual culture studies, and cultural heritage debates.
