Costantino Marmo is a Full Professor of Semiotics and History of Semiotics at the University of Bologna, Department of the Arts. He obtained his laurea in Philosophy (1982) and PhD in Semiotics (1992) from the University of Bologna under Umberto Eco. His research focuses on medieval semiotics, contemporary semiotic theory, and communication in public/private spheres. He has held leadership roles including Director of the Umberto Eco International Center for Humanities (2019–present), President of the School of Arts and Humanities (2012–2018), and President of the Communication Sciences Programme (2006–2012).
He collaborates internationally on projects like the 'Brito Project' and 'Topica Project', and coordinates the TOLC exam for Humanities admissions. His work appears in journals such as Vivarium and CIMAGL.
