Lucette Toussaint is a Professor at the University of Poitiers, affiliated with the Center for Research on Cognition and Learning (CeRCA) and the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme et de la Société (MSHS). She serves as Director of the Doctoral School 'Humans in Society' and leads research in sensorimotor cognition.
Her research investigates:
- Motor imagery and sensorimotor representations
- Effects of short-term immobilization on cognitive processes
- Embodied cognition and action-language relationships
- Aging and cognitive plasticity
- Sensorimotor adaptation in rehabilitation contexts
Recent publications (2020-2024) demonstrate consistent focus on sensorimotor plasticity, with themes including: effects of limb immobilization on cognition, motor imagery applications in sports/rehabilitation, embodied memory mechanisms, and cognitive aging. Research methodologies combine behavioral experiments, psychometric validation, and clinical applications.
She actively supervises doctoral researchers, including current students working on sensorimotor disorders in aging, embodied memory mechanisms, and interpersonal body representation. Past students have investigated attentional capacities in aviation, clinical motor imagery applications, and developmental aspects of motor cognition.
