معرفی
Dr. Luca Nelli is a Lecturer in Infectious Disease Ecology at the School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine, University of Glasgow. His research focuses on quantitative ecology, bridging ecology and epidemiology with applications in public health, One Health, and wildlife conservation. He specializes in spatio-temporal statistical methods applied to imperfect data from citizen science and health surveillance systems.
Current Projects include the FREEDOM program (malaria elimination tools), assessing mosquito-borne disease risks in Scotland under climate change, and optimizing surveillance strategies with FTA card-based trapping systems. He collaborates internationally on malaria ecology in Africa and orangutans in Indonesia, and habitat modeling for diverse taxa.
Recent Work spans interactive tools for wildlife management (e.g., cat neutering programs), global roadkill datasets, and geospatial models for Anopheles funestus habitats. His articles highlight innovative surveillance methods and statistical frameworks for disease elimination decisions.
Awards & Grants include the 2024 Teaching Excellence Award and grants from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, UK Research and Innovation, and The Carter Center. He supervises students in conservation science, spatial ecology, and epidemiological modeling.
Professional Roles include editorial board memberships at BMJ Global Health and PLOS ONE, and co-chairing the Northwest Biosciences Doctoral Training Partnership.
