Seth Redmond is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases at the Yale School of Public Health. He holds a PhD in Vector Genomics from the Institut Pasteur, Paris, an MSc in Bioinformatics from the University of Liverpool, and a BSc in Biology from the University of Leeds. His research focuses on genomic surveillance of vector-borne diseases, particularly malaria and dengue, using computational and molecular approaches.
Research Interests include population genetics of disease vectors, development of informatic techniques for pathogen genomics, and application of amplicon sequencing assays to track disease transmission. He collaborates with institutions like the CDC’s Pathogen Genomics Center of Excellence, contributing to longitudinal studies of pathogens.
Publications highlight advancements in genome assembly for Anopheles funestus, detection of microinversions in Aedes aegypti, and mechanisms of artemisinin resistance in Plasmodium falciparum. His work spans 2010–2024, with recent studies on SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variants.
