Luca Gelsomino

Luca Gelsomino is an Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Economics and Business, specializing in Operations Management. He also serves as Senior Researcher at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences and Academic Director of the SCF Community, an international network focusing on Supply Chain Finance (SCF). His research bridges purchasing, supply chain management, and financial strategies, emphasizing integration between operational and financial aspects of organizations.

Education: PhD in Operations Management from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) with merit, focusing on measuring financial performance in supply chains. Previously directed the School’s SCF research program.

Research focuses on SCF integration with treasury, sustainable supply chains, blockchain applications, and SME financing dynamics. Key roles include overseeing the SCF Community’s research and network activities. Teaching includes courses on supply chain management, purchasing, and financial analysis.

Recent work explores sustainability-linked SCF, transparency in supply chains, and treasurer roles in emissions reduction. His SCF research has been widely cited, with contributions to practitioner insights and theoretical frameworks.
