معرفی
Luca Barbiero is a Fixed-term Tenure-track Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT) at Politecnico di Torino. He is affiliated with the College of Electronics, Telecommunications and Physics Engineering and contributes to the Nanophysics and Quantum Systems research group. His research focuses on quantum simulations, topological insulators, and ultra-cold atomic systems, leveraging expertise in condensed matter physics and quantum optics.
Barbiero teaches courses such as Quantum and Matter Physics Introduction and Quantum Theory of Condensed Matter at the graduate level, and Physics I for aerospace engineering undergraduates. He leads the DiQuT project (2023–2025), exploring dipolar quantum simulators of topological phases under PRIN funding.
- Research Projects: DiQuT (PRIN-funded), studying topological phases via quantum simulations.
- Advising: Supervises PhD students Aparna Kadakkavattathu Parameswaran and Nitya Cuzzuol in theoretical physics.
His recent work includes advancements in Bose-Hubbard models, geometrical frustration in quantum lattices, and deconfined quantum critical points. Barbiero’s contributions bridge theoretical physics with experimental quantum technologies, addressing topics like spin-charge separation and topological transport.
