معرفی
Luc Marchal is an Associate Professor at Polytech'Nantes (University of Nantes) and research leader within GEPEA (UMR CNRS 6144), specializing in process engineering for biorefinery applications. His dual role integrates advanced teaching with cutting-edge research in separation science and marine biomass valorization.
His academic credentials include a PhD in Process Engineering (2001) focusing on Centrifugal Partition Chromatography optimization and a 2013 HDR advancing systems approaches to interfacial mass transfer processes. As Head of the 4th-year Process Engineering program, he teaches fluid mechanics, unit operations, and reactor engineering.
Professor Marchal's research centers on two synergistic domains:
- Development and scaling of Centrifugal Partition Chromatography techniques
- Microalgal biomass fractionation (lysis, extraction, purification)
His scholarly output comprises 23 international publications and three patented technologies. The microalgae biorefinery group he leads has successfully supervised six PhD candidates between 2008-2016, addressing critical challenges in bioresource processing. Current research emphasizes equipment rationalization and multi-scale validation of extraction methodologies for industrial implementation.
Teaching and research activities are closely interwoven through his leadership of R&D projects that provide students with hands-on experience in emerging bioprocessing technologies. His work exemplifies the integration of fundamental process engineering with sustainable industrial applications in marine biotechnology.
