Luc Beaulieu is a Full Professor in the Department of Physics, Physical Engineering and Optics at Université Laval, serving as Director of the CAMPEP Graduate Program in Medical Physics. He leads the Medical Physics and Radiation Protection Department at CHU de Québec - Université Laval and conducts research at the Oncology Axis of the CHU de Québec Research Center. His expertise spans medical dosimetry, brachytherapy, and radiation oncology technologies.
Education: PhD (Nuclear Physics, 1996), M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Physics from Université Laval. Postdoctoral training at UC Berkeley/Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (1996–1998).
Research focuses on advancing dose measurement technologies, treatment planning algorithms, and precision radiation therapies. Key areas include scintillation dosimeters, Monte Carlo simulations, and biomedical instrumentation. Awards include Fellowships from major medical physics organizations and the Sylvia Fedoruk Prize (2019).
Grants include projects on next-generation treatment planning algorithms, CBCT imaging systems, and scintillation dosimetry platforms. Active in supervising over 20 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Collaborates with industry partners like Elekta, Nucletron, and MITACS.
