Paul Medin, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he serves in the Division of Medical Physics and Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles (1998) and completed a Clinical Medical Physics Residency at the University of Minnesota, becoming the first individual to earn both a Ph.D. and CAMPEP-accredited residency certificate. Dr. Medin has held faculty positions at the University of Minnesota, UCLA, and the University of Nebraska before joining UT Southwestern.
His research focuses on developing realistic models to study nervous system dose responses to stereotactic body radiotherapy, spinal cord radiation tolerance, brachytherapy optimization, and FLASH radiotherapy mechanisms. He has pioneered two CAMPEP-accredited residency programs and serves as a CAMPEP residency program reviewer. Board-certified by the American Board of Radiology in therapeutic radiologic physics, his work advances safety protocols in radiation oncology.
Dr. Medin's publications demonstrate consistent focus on radiation toxicity modeling, stereotactic techniques, and treatment optimization. Recent work explores ultra-high dose rate radiotherapy, spinal nerve tolerance, brachytherapy innovations, and MR-guided treatment planning. His 60+ peer-reviewed articles reflect interdisciplinary collaboration across medical physics, radiation biology, and clinical oncology.
