Professor Lubna Nasir is a distinguished academic at the University of Glasgow's School of Veterinary Medicine, holding the position of Professor of Comparative Oncology. Her research spans over two decades with significant contributions to veterinary oncology, virology, and molecular biology, particularly focusing on equine sarcoids and papillomavirus pathogenesis.
Her research interests center on the molecular mechanisms of cell immortalization and transformation, with particular emphasis on the role of Bovine Papillomaviruses (BPV) types 1 and 2 in equine sarcoid skin tumors. She investigates viral pathogenesis, virus-host interactions, and develops novel cancer therapeutic approaches including RNA interference techniques.
