Dr. Luann Fortune is a Full Professor and Associate Department Chair in the Department of Mind-Body Medicine at Saybrook University’s College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences. She coordinates the Mindful Leadership specialization and holds leadership roles in professional organizations such as the Society for Phenomenology & Human Sciences. With a PhD in Human Development from Fielding University, her research focuses on integrative wellness, somatic awareness, and embodiment in healthcare. She has published extensively on mindfulness, qualitative research methodologies, and healthcare equity.
Her educational background includes a BA in Interdisciplinary Social Science, MA and PhD in Human Development. She previously served as a Fellow at Fielding University’s Institute of Social Innovation and held executive roles in organizations like the Interdisciplinary Coalition of North American Phenomenologists. Her community involvement includes advocacy for integrative medicine accessibility and leadership in organizations like ZONTA and the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation.
Dr. Fortune’s research emphasizes translational value, bridging scholarship and practice through case studies, mixed methods, and narrative inquiry. She has contributed to publications on pandemic-related healthcare resilience, meditation in chronic disease management, and spiritual experiences of cancer survivors.
