Jennifer DeDecker is a Research Fellow at Saybrook University's Department of Research, affiliated with the College of Social Sciences and College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Mind-Body Medicine from Saybrook University (2023) and an MS in the same field (2019). Her work bridges somatic psychology, contemplative neuroscience, and healthcare ethics, with a focus on compassionate care and maternal mental health.
Education: BA in Human Biology and Anthropology (University of Kansas, 2005), MS (2019), and PhD (2023) in Mind-Body Medicine from Saybrook University.
Research interests include mitigating healthcare burnout, perinatal mood disorders, and the embodiment of compassion. She co-leads a grounded theory study on birth doulas' compassion experiences with Dr. Walker Ladd. Her publications span ethics in acupuncture, postpartum anxiety, and compassionate healthcare practices.
Professional involvement includes roles in the Doula Research and Advocacy Collective, NVAS Board of Education, and Michigan lactation initiatives. She operates Full Moon Rising, a wellness studio offering maternal health services and bodywork.
