Lu Zhang

Lu Zhang is an Associate Professor in the Industrial Computer Science and Electronics department at INSA Rennes, France, affiliated with the IETR lab (UMR CNRS 6164) and leading the VAADER team. Her research focuses on image/video quality assessment, saliency detection, and applications in medical imaging and computer vision.

Research interests include perceptual quality modeling, deep learning for video compression, and visual attention prediction. She has supervised 12 PhD students to completion and currently leads projects on drone video analysis and medical image quality assessment.

Publications demonstrate strong focus on quality metrics for emerging media formats including light field imaging, 360-degree video, and synthesized views. Recent work integrates deep learning with traditional quality assessment methods.
