Lourdes James is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Belmont Abbey College, where she teaches courses including NU 301: Nursing Care of the Adult with Acute and Chronic Conditions I, NU 304: Nursing Care of the Family – Pediatrics, and serves as a Clinical Instructor for Adult Med/Surg and Pediatrics. She holds an MSN from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine and a BSN from Winston-Salem State University. Her research focuses on Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, and Medical Missions, with a strong emphasis on Nursing Informatics and Healthcare Management.
Dr. James is the Editor of the Journal of Informatics Nursing and has published extensively on topics such as patient portal considerations, healthcare preparedness, and the transition of clinical education to e-learning. Her work bridges clinical practice, technology integration, and patient-centered care. She actively promotes professional development through poster presentations and scholarly writing.
Outside academia, she is dedicated to medical missions and fostering global health initiatives. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes preparing nurses to embrace the evolving healthcare landscape with confidence and compassion.
