Louise Sewell is an Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health, University of Leicester. She specializes in pulmonary rehabilitation, chronic respiratory disease management, and the measurement of daily activity through physical activity monitors. Her work contributes to Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
- Education: BSc in Occupational Therapy (University of Liverpool, 1993), PhD in Pulmonary Rehabilitation (University of Leicester, 2006), Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (Coventry University, 2016).
Research Interests: Optimal delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation programs, measurement of occupational performance and health status in chronic respiratory diseases, and the impact of fatigue on long-term health conditions. Her recent studies focus on activity monitors for COPD patients and healthcare practitioner perspectives on their use.
Louise previously served as Clinical Lead for Pulmonary Rehabilitation & Nurse Specialist Services at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (2009–2014). She actively supervises postgraduate research and teaches occupational therapy students. She is a member of the British Thoracic Society’s Specialist Advisory Group for Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Key contributions include over 30 publications, with recent works exploring patient and practitioner experiences with activity monitors in COPD management.
