Louise Mallinder is a Professor of Human Rights and International Law at the Transitional Justice Institute (TJI), affiliated with the School of Law in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences at Ulster University. Her work focuses on amnesty laws, transitional justice mechanisms, and socio-legal research methods.
Her research spans international human rights law, international criminal law, and political transitions, with fieldwork in Northern Ireland, Cambodia, Chile, South Africa, Israel, Palestine, Tunisia, Argentina, Uruguay, Uganda, and Bosnia-Herzegovina. She has secured funding from prestigious bodies like the Economic and Social Research Council, Arts and Humanities Research Council, and Nuffield Foundation.
Louise’s publications and expertise contribute to global discussions on combating impunity, legal frameworks for peace processes, and post-conflict justice systems. Her academic achievements include the 2009 Hart SLSA Early Career Award and the 2009 British Society of Criminology Book Prize.
