Prof. Louis Strigari is the Mitchell/Heep/Munnerlyn Endowed Chair in Observational Astronomy at Texas A&M University's Department of Physics and Astronomy, affiliated with the Mitchell Institute for Fundamental Physics and Astronomy. His research focuses on astroparticle physics and cosmology, with expertise in neutrino interactions, dark matter detection, and gamma-ray astrophysics. He leads the Dark Energy Survey's Local Group and Milky Way satellite galaxy studies, leveraging cosmological simulations to explore dark matter properties and faint galaxy dynamics.
Research interests include:
- Neutrino physics and coherent scattering mechanisms
- Dark matter detection via direct/indirect methods
- Cosmological simulations of galaxy formation
- High-energy gamma-ray source modeling using Fermi-LAT data
