Louis Leblond is a Teaching Professor of Physics at The Pennsylvania State University's Eberly College of Science. He holds titles including Martarano Leadership Fellow, Director of Online Education in Physics, and Eberly College Guide. His research focuses on Physics Education Research, particularly innovative online laboratory tools, self-regulatory learning, critical thinking, and DEIA initiatives. He earned a B.Sc. from Université Laval (2001) and a Ph.D. from Cornell University (2006).
Leblond's work addresses challenges in asynchronous online education, including student engagement and accessibility. He leads projects like the NSF-funded IUSE Award #2337176 on Success through Self-Regulated Learning (StSRL) and alternative grading systems. His lab designs tools such as iOLab for remote physics experiments.
Recent publications explore modeling academic disparities (RASE framework), student behavior in remote labs, and theoretical physics topics like de Sitter space dynamics. He received the Martarano Leadership Fellowship and contributes to APS-IDEA and the Rainbow Science Network. His grants include NSF support for educational innovation and DEIA initiatives.
