Louis Kuo is a Professor of Chemistry and Department Chair at Lewis & Clark College, located in Portland, Oregon. He holds a BS from Harvey Mudd College, a PhD from Northwestern University, and completed postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology. His teaching spans General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, and Medicinal Organic Chemistry.
His research focuses on two primary areas: the role of metal ions in RNA enzyme (ribozyme) catalysis and the development of organometallic complexes for degrading phosphate neurotoxins. He has held sabbatical appointments at CU Boulder (with Thomas Cech), University of Oregon (with David Tyler), and Caltech (with Robert Grubbs).
