He teaches courses in Administrative Law, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, and the Separation of Powers Seminar. His academic career is marked by significant contributions to constitutional and administrative law scholarship.
Professor Virelli holds a B.S.E. from Duke University, an M.S.E. from the University of Pennsylvania, and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Van Antwerpen of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and Judge Leonard I. Garth of the Third Circuit.
Professor Virelli's research focuses primarily on constitutional and administrative law, with special emphasis on Supreme Court recusal, judicial ethics, separation of powers, and administrative adjudication. His work explores the intersection of constitutional principles with practical administrative governance, examining how ethical standards and procedural rules shape judicial and administrative decision-making. He is the author of Disqualifying the High Court: Supreme Court Recusal and the Constitution (University Press of Kansas 2016) and a co-author of the casebook Administrative Law: Cases and Materials (Carolina Academic Press 8th ed.).
Professor Virelli's scholarship demonstrates a consistent trend toward examining the ethical frameworks governing judicial behavior, particularly at the Supreme Court level, while also addressing broader questions of administrative law and constitutional interpretation. His recent publications have focused on Supreme Court ethics codes, recusal standards, and the relationship between judicial independence and accountability.
