Lougiakis Nikolaos

Nikolaos Lougiakis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. His research focuses on designing organic compounds with anticancer, antiviral, and cardioprotective properties, as well as developing biomarkers for cellular senescence detection. He holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the same university (2008) and has conducted postdoctoral research across multiple institutions, including the University of Camerino in Italy. Key research areas include structure-activity relationships (SAR) of purine analogues, synthesis of bioactive natural product analogues, and targeted drug delivery systems.

Recent advancements include fluorophore-conjugated reagents for senescent cell detection and enzyme inhibitors targeting myocardial ischemia. He collaborates internationally, contributing to senolytic drug platforms and machine learning tools for SIRT2 inhibitor discovery.
