Loubna Bilali

Loubna Bilali is an Associate Professor in the Department of Modern & Classical Language Studies at Kent State University. She specializes in translation technology and pedagogy, with a focus on bridging academic training and industry demands. Her roles include teaching translation technology courses in the MA program and coordinating Arabic Lower Division courses. She holds a Ph.D. in Translation Studies (Kent State University), two Master’s degrees in Translation (French-English and Cross-Cultural Communication), and a Bachelor's in English Linguistics from Chouaib Doukkali University, Morocco.

Her research emphasizes localization training, terminology management, and online education. She developed online courses for the MA in Translation program and has extensive industry experience as an in-house translator, editor, and project coordinator in pharmaceutical, IT, and educational sectors. This experience informs her teaching and advocacy for interdisciplinary curricula addressing real-world translation challenges.

Bilali serves as an English-Arabic grader for the American Translators Association (ATA). Her work includes freelance roles as Lead Linguist in software localization and Quality Manager for machine translation projects, further enriching her academic contributions.
