Lory Barile is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Warwick, with a focus on teaching and pedagogical innovation. She has held key roles such as Director of Postgraduate Studies (Taught Degrees), Chair of the Postgraduate Management Committee, and Director of Widening Participation. Her research spans behavioral and experimental economics, public/environmental economics, and applied microeconomics, with a focus on pro-environmental habits, tax compliance, and student attainment gaps. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and a Fellow of the Warwick International Higher Education Academy (WIHEA).
Research interests include nudge theory, gender economics, and the application of behavioral insights to public policy. She co-leads the Behavioural Environmental Economics Team (BEET) and is a Research Affiliate of the Behaviour, Brain, and Society (Climate Change and Behavioural Change) group. Her work bridges economics education and sustainability, emphasizing co-creation through design thinking and circular education models.
Publications highlight interventions to improve recycling behavior, tax compliance analysis, and strategies to address student engagement barriers. Awards include recognition for her contributions to higher education pedagogy and sustainable development advocacy.
