Lorenzo Lotti is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in Economics of Energy and the Environment at University College London's Bartlett School of Environment, Energy & Resources. He serves as Departmental Co-Director of Education and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2019. As founder of the Behavioural Environmental Economics Team (BEET), he bridges research, teaching, and outreach in sustainability fields.
Lotti's research focuses on behavioral economics applied to energy and environmental challenges, with particular expertise in food sustainability, ecological economics, and applied economics. His work examines how behavioral interventions can promote sustainable consumption, improve recycling behaviors, and address climate-related challenges in diverse cultural contexts.
His publication portfolio demonstrates strong engagement with sustainability challenges across multiple domains, with recent work focusing on circular education models, sustainable food consumption, energy use in office environments, and pandemic-related behavioral changes. His research consistently applies behavioral economics frameworks to real-world sustainability problems.

Lotti has held significant leadership roles including Programme Leader for MSc EPEE (2018-2023) where he achieved outstanding student feedback, and currently serves as Co-Director of Education. He has launched the departmental UCL Sustainability Higher Education Initiative and is involved in national and international activities linking Higher Education and Sustainability. His teaching spans multiple modules including Advanced Environmental Economics and Behavioral Economics and Game Theory for the Environment.
As founder of BEET, he leads a research group focused on applying behavioral economics to environmental challenges, with active engagement in international conferences and collaborations with institutions worldwide. His work extends beyond academia through advisory roles for organizations including University UK, Advance HE, and McGraw-Hill on sustainability and higher education matters.
