Dr Lorren Eldridge is an Assistant Professor in Private Law at the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Law, affiliated with Queens' College. Their research focuses on land law, legal history, and historical jurisprudence, with a particular emphasis on the legacy of medieval legal systems in modern English private law. Eldridge co-founded the Selden’s Sister network, promoting scholarship on women’s contributions to legal history and supporting contemporary female legal historians.
They hold a DPhil and MA from Oxford (Oxon) and are a non-practising solicitor in England and Wales. Eldridge has taught at Oxford colleges (Corpus Christi and Christ Church) and served as an Early Career Fellow at the University of Edinburgh. Their work bridges historical legal analysis with modern reforms, including studies on 19th-20th century property legislation.
Recent publications include Law and the Medieval Village Community (2023) and articles on medieval legal frameworks influencing modern contract law and estate systems. Eldridge’s research also explores methodological approaches in legal history and comparative legal traditions.
