Dr. Lorraine Joseph is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Online Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Seattle University's College of Education. She specializes in working with children/adolescents, particularly those involved with juvenile justice systems, and has extensive experience in group therapy dynamics.
Her research focuses on counselor professional identity development, gatekeeping practices, trauma competence, and social justice advocacy. She integrates theory and practice to cultivate culturally responsive learning environments that foster clinical competence and diversity appreciation.
Dr. Joseph has published on affirmative counseling for the LGBTGEQIAP+ community and resilience-building strategies during COVID-19. She regularly presents at national conferences on topics including creative supervision approaches, microaggressions in counseling, and trauma-informed pedagogy.
