Dr Lorna Lloyd is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow in International Relations at Keele University's School of Social Sciences. She holds a PhD from the London School of Economics (LSE), where she assisted Nobel laureate Philip Noel-Baker. Her research focuses on diplomacy, international history, and Commonwealth evolution, with notable works including Peace through Law (1997) and Diplomacy with a Difference (2007).
Her academic contributions include editorship of the Key Issues in Diplomacy series and roles as Convenor of BISA's Diplomacy Group, Chair of ISA's International Law Section, and member of multiple advisory councils. Current roles include the Institute of Commonwealth Studies Advisory Council and Keele University and College Union Committee.
Awards include the Leverhulme Fellowship and Canadian Faculty Research Awards, alongside Royal Historical Society Fellowship. Teaching modules cover Global International Organisations, the League of Nations, and Diplomatic Law.
Her research spans British Empire transitions, Commonwealth dynamics, and UN/League of Nations diplomacy. Recent projects include analyses of India-South Africa UN disputes (2018) and Australia-Ireland diplomatic conflicts over monarchical titles.
