Lorna Jakobson is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Arts, specializing in human neuropsychology with a focus on visual perception, social cognition, and mental health. She contributes to research on alexithymia, sensory processing sensitivity, and the neural mechanisms of music abilities.
- Education: BA Honours (Psychology), University of Manitoba; MA and PhD in Clinical Neuropsychology, University of Western Ontario.
Her research explores individual differences in social perception and cognition, executive function development, and the impact of music training on cognitive skills. Recent publications analyze sensory processing sensitivity, emotional contagion, and mental health outcomes linked to personality traits.
Dr. Jakobson has received multiple awards, including the 2019 Excellence in Teaching Award and the 2001 Rh Award for research contributions. She is actively involved in community outreach with autism programs and cerebral palsy sports organizations.
