Lorna Gibb is an Associate Professor in Creative Writing & Linguistics at the University of Stirling's English Studies department, having joined the institution in 2022. Previously, she served as Head of Creative Writing at the University of Hertfordshire.
Her research interests span the intersection of fiction and non-fiction, autofiction, biography, women's reproductive health issues including endometriosis and infertility, minority languages, linguistic activism, Spiritualism, Thelema, and travel writing. She has particular expertise in Gothic novels, ghosts and vampires literature, biographical novels focusing on Rebecca West and Lady Hester Stanhope, and 19th-20th century mediums.
Dr. Gibb has given a British Academy lecture tour in Serbia and has been an invited speaker at academic institutions in Leiden, Poland, Cyprus, Spain, and the United States. She regularly appears at major UK literary festivals including Aye Write, Edinburgh International Book Festival, Dartington, Cheltenham, and Wilderness.
Her scholarly work includes four non-fiction books, a novel, numerous short stories, and articles published in prestigious outlets such as Granta Magazine, Diva, The Telegraph, and Red Magazine, alongside academic articles in her research areas.
