Loriann Helgeson is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Occupational Therapy Department at Whitworth University. She joined the faculty in 2021 and previously held roles as program director and assistant professor at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (Provo, Utah) and founded the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at Ameritech College of Healthcare (Salt Lake City). Her academic leadership certifications include the Academic Leadership Institute's Credentialed Leader in Academia and Mindful Path to Leadership training.

Her clinical experience spans 17 years in rehabilitation and home health, including coordinating a cerebrovascular accident (stroke) team. Helgeson focuses on advancing occupational therapy education, professionalism in healthcare, and veteran mental health. She currently serves on AOTA's Ethics Panel (2024–present) and Disciplinary Council (2020–2023), and mentors new educators through AOTA’s mentorship program.
Her publications emphasize clinical education, student professionalism, and veteran suicide prevention. Notable recognitions include the Qualtrics Insights into Action Bronze Award (2017) and AOTA Service Commendation (2018).
Helgeson actively contributes to academic leadership initiatives and maintains involvement in AOTA’s disciplinary governance and ethics oversight.
