Lori Curtis

Lori Curtis is a Teaching Professor at the School of Social Work, University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL), where she has served since 1999. She also holds an affiliated faculty role with UMSL's Gender Studies program. Her academic background includes a BA in Psychology (1988) from the State University of New York at Geneseo and an MSW (1995) from Washington University's George Warren Brown School of Social Work, specializing in women's issues. As BSW Advising Coordinator and Outreach Coordinator, she manages academic advising and coordinates off-campus BSW/MSW completion programs at Mineral Area College in Missouri.

Research interests focus on Social Work Education, particularly in Diversity and Social Justice, Gender Issues, and LGBTQ+ Advocacy. She developed the online course Gender Issues in Social Work (SW4630) and teaches core undergraduate courses like Introduction to Strategies for Social Work Practice (SW3100) and Diversity and Social Justice (SW3700). Her work aligns with UMSL's Safe Zone program for LGBTQ+ inclusion.
