Lori Brown is a Professor of Sociology & Criminology and Faculty Advisor for the Criminal Justice MA Program at Meredith College. She joined the institution in 1992 and holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Indiana University, an M.A. from Temple University, and a B.S. from the University of Louisville.
Her research focuses on race relations, public perceptions of police interactions, women in law enforcement leadership (particularly as police chiefs), school resource officer dynamics, and decision-making in traffic scenarios. She teaches a diverse range of courses including Human Sexuality, Race and Ethnic Relations, Corrections, and The Color of Crime.
Dr. Brown pioneered Meredith's Criminology major (2011) and co-designed the online MA in Criminal Justice (2020), which she now advises. She emphasizes experiential learning through internships and fieldwork partnerships with criminal justice professionals.
