Angelo Brown is an Assistant Professor of Criminology in the Department of Sociology & Criminology at Arkansas State University, within the College of Liberal Arts and Communication. He is actively involved in research, teaching, and professional service related to criminal justice and criminology.
Dr. Brown holds a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice and Criminology from Washington State University and a master's degree from Arizona State University. His educational background has equipped him with a strong foundation in criminological theory and policy analysis.
His research and teaching focus on criminal justice policy and policing, analyzed through comparative and intersectional frameworks. He emphasizes social justice implications in law enforcement practices and systemic policy evaluation. His work connects academic research with real-world policing through community engagement and data analysis.
Dr. Brown is a member of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and serves on the Pullman Police Advisory Board, contributing expert insight to law enforcement oversight. He also works as a research associate for the Division of Governmental Studies and Service, where he analyzes state patrol data to inform policy. He advises students, particularly those in Alpha Phi Sigma, the criminal justice honor society.
Outside of academia, he is passionate about outdoor activities such as mountain biking, martial arts, and camping, with prior experience as a camp counselor for the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, reflecting a commitment to youth and community development.
