Rebecca Rist-Brown is a Professor and Program Coordinator for Criminal Justice & Criminology Studies at Middlesex Community College. She holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice/Investigative Services from the University of New Haven (UNH), an M.Ed. in Education (UNH), and an M.S. in Forensic Science/Advanced Investigations from UNH’s Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science. Prior to academia, she spent six years in law enforcement as a patrol officer and evidence officer, specializing in crime scene investigations and criminalistics.
Her research and teaching focus on forensic science, criminal justice education, and practical crime scene analysis. She has taught courses like Bloodstain Pattern Analysis, Forensic Firearms Investigations, and Criminalistics, emphasizing real-world methodologies distinct from fictional portrayals. Her professional certifications include police instructor credentials in criminalistics and crime scene investigations.
Rebecca has received accolades including the Chief’s Award in Forensic Advances and the High Five Excellence Award. She contributed to the Hartford Police Department’s Crime Scene Unit during her graduate internship and remains active in organizations like the American Society of Criminology. Beyond academia, she enjoys outdoor activities and family time.
