Lorena Albert Ferrando is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Spanish, Italian & Portuguese within the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Florida. She specializes in the intersection of philology, linguistics, and historiography in Spain and the Americas, with a focus on language ideologies related to power, knowledge, race, racism, and privilege.

Her current manuscript explores Aurelio M. Espinosa, Sr.'s studies of 'traditional Spanish' in shaping New Mexican identity in the early 20th century.
