Loren Schwiebert

Loren Schwiebert is a Professor in the Computer Science Department at Wayne State University's College of Engineering. He holds a PhD from Ohio State University and served as Department Chair from 2014-2022.

His research focuses on high-performance computing, including GPU-accelerated scientific applications, molecular Monte Carlo simulations, and parallel algorithms. He contributes to open-source projects GOMC (GPU Optimized Monte Carlo) and JETSCAPE (jet tomography framework).

He has received multiple teaching awards including the College of Engineering Excellence in Teaching Award and Michael E. Martinez Research Award. His recent publications cover jet physics, parallel graph algorithms, and hybrid simulation methods. As principal investigator on NSF grants totaling over $7M, he leads projects in computational physics and scientific software development.
