Lorelei Pepi serves as an Associate Professor in the Animation Department within the Ian Gillespie Faculty of Design + Dynamic Media at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She is an internationally award-winning independent animation filmmaker based in Vancouver, BC.
Her creative work engages deeply with issues of political and historical representation, the sexual body, and LGBT identity. Through animation's various forms, her practice spans from highly experimental techniques to character-driven narrative approaches, establishing her as a significant voice in contemporary animation.
Her film work demonstrates consistent excellence, with "Grace" receiving the "Grand Prize" at the Ottawa Student Animation Festival and the "High Risk Award" at Fantoche Animation Festival. She is currently promoting her recently completed film "Happy & Gay" at international festivals.
