Dr. Loni Philip Tabb is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics and Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at Drexel University's Dornsife School of Public Health. She also leads the Urban Health Collaborative Research and Data Core. Her academic journey includes degrees from Drexel University (BS and MS in Mathematics) and Harvard University (AM and PhD in Biostatistics).
Her research focuses on spatial and spatio-temporal statistics applied to health disparities, structural racism, cardiovascular health, and environmental exposures. Notable projects include measuring structural racism's impact on health outcomes and analyzing geographic patterns of racial inequities. She frequently employs Bayesian methods to address complex data structures.
Dr. Tabb's work bridges statistical rigor with public health policy, particularly in urban settings. Her publications highlight methodological innovations in spatial epidemiology and the intersection of health with socioeconomic factors. She has received funding from the NHLBI, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and NSF. Her advising spans doctoral and master’s students exploring topics like racialized segregation and violence epidemiology.
Key grants include studies on cardiovascular risk factor heterogeneity and the relationship between alcohol outlets and violence. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates environmental, social, and clinical data to advance health equity initiatives.
