Longqing Cong

Longqing Cong is an Associate Professor at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, College of Engineering. He leads the Tera-Meta Lab research group and serves on the editorial board of Ultrafast Science (Science Partner Journal) and Chinese Laser Press.

His educational background includes:

Professor Cong's research spans terahertz photonics, next-generation wireless communications (6G), terahertz imaging and sensing, metamaterials, metasurfaces, photonic crystals, ultrafast spectroscopy, and nonlinear optics. His work focuses on developing novel devices for terahertz wave manipulation, including metasurfaces, photonic crystals, and bound states in the continuum phenomena. His research has significant applications in communications, sensing, and imaging technologies.

His publication record shows a strong focus on bound states in the continuum (BICs) and their applications in terahertz technology, with increasing emphasis on active and reconfigurable devices. Recent work explores liquid crystal integration, temporal boundary effects, and topological photonics for terahertz applications. His research demonstrates a progression from fundamental metamaterial studies to practical device implementations.

His Tera-Meta Lab recruits postdoctoral fellows, research assistants, and graduate students with backgrounds in optics, physics, optoelectronics, materials, and communications. He also leads both general and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

The Tera-Meta Lab at SUSTech is a vibrant research environment focused on cutting-edge terahertz technology development. The lab has produced highly cited work, including ESI highly cited papers, and maintains strong international collaborations. Current research directions include terahertz photonics, next-generation wireless communication devices, terahertz imaging and sensing, and advanced metamaterial structures.
