Long Nguyen

Long Nguyen serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health, Section of Epidemiology at the University of Copenhagen. His research integrates methodological innovation in clinical epidemiology with philosophical perspectives on compassion and community engagement, creating a distinctive approach to public health science.

His work centers on three interconnected domains: developing robust causal inference methods for real-world evidence generation; bridging knowledge gaps between statistical methods, clinical medicine, philosophy, art and spirituality; and implementing compassion as concrete public health action. Dr. Nguyen created the community platform nở · bro (combining Vietnamese 'nở' for blooming with Danish 'bro' for connection) in Copenhagen's Nørrebro neighborhood, which hosted two seasons of workshops, art exhibitions and community dinners to facilitate societal reflections.

His publication record demonstrates consistent focus on epidemiological methods, mental health, and kindness as public health intervention. Recent work includes methodological advances in target trial emulation and disease risk scoring, alongside conceptual contributions framing kindness as a population-level health strategy with Rose's preventive medicine framework.

Dr. Nguyen leads multiple courses including 'Statistics, Epidemiology and Social Medicine' for medical students and PhD courses on precision medicine and teaching methods.
