Lolita Darden serves as Visiting Associate Clinical Professor and Director of the Intellectual Property and Technology Clinic at George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC. She is a registered patent attorney with extensive experience in intellectual property law and clinical legal education.
Her research focuses on intellectual property rights protection for under-resourced creators and inventors, examining constitutional implications of recent U.S. IP law changes and advancing concepts of access and equity in IP rights maintenance. Her work bridges legal theory with practical applications through clinical programs.
Prior to GW, she was Associate Clinical Professor and Director of Suffolk University Law School's Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Clinic, where she taught courses including Intellectual Property Survey, Trademark Law, and Patent Law. Her industry experience includes partnership at Sachnoff & Weaver, Ltd. (managing patent prosecution) and serving as Chief IP Counsel for Duracraft Corporation.
Notable case involvement includes precedent-setting matters: Atlantic Thermoplastics v. Faytex Corp. (product-by-process claims), Micron Separations, Inc. v. Pall Corporation (companion to Markman claim construction ruling), and Curtin v. United Trademark Holdings (consumer standing in trademark opposition).
