Liza Comita is the Davis-Denkmann Professor of Tropical Forest Ecology and Co-Director of the Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture at Yale University's School of the Environment. She holds a BA in Biology (University of Pennsylvania, 1999), MA in Conservation Biology (University of Pennsylvania, 1999), and PhD in Plant Biology (University of Georgia, 2006). Prior to Yale, she was an Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University (2011–2014). Her research focuses on ecological mechanisms shaping tropical forest diversity, dynamics, and species distributions in pristine and human-altered ecosystems. Combining field studies with statistical techniques, her work explores tropical forest regeneration and community structuring, with recent emphasis on climate change impacts and restoration ecology.
