معرفی
Frank Andrew Jones is an Associate Professor in the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology at Oregon State University (OSU), affiliated with the College of Agricultural Sciences. His research integrates molecular ecology, population genetics, and community ecology to study ecological and evolutionary mechanisms shaping plant diversity. Jones holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia (2004) and is a Research Associate at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama.
His work focuses on tropical and temperate forest ecosystems, addressing topics such as local adaptation to drought, pollinator-plant interactions, gene dispersal dynamics, and microbial community roles in biodiversity maintenance. Key methodologies include DNA barcoding, genomic analyses, and field experiments in diverse ecosystems like Panama and temperate rainforests.
Recent studies highlight impacts of deforestation on plant mating systems, functional diversity shifts, and drought responses in tropical tree species. Jones teaches courses like Advanced Plant Ecology and Plant Climate Interactions, mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in field and lab research. The Jones Lab collaborates on global initiatives like the ForestGEO network, advancing understanding of forest dynamics through interdisciplinary approaches.
Notable projects include investigating microbial community dynamics in assisted migration strategies and exploring conspecific density dependence in tropical forests. Current efforts emphasize climate change resilience in plant species and the role of functional traits in ecosystem stability.
