Professor Liz Deutsch holds the position of Professor for Nursing Practice at Coventry University, affiliated with the Centre for Healthcare and Communities. She is also a Clinical Academic Nurse at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, combining clinical expertise with academic research. Her roles emphasize translating research into practice, particularly in acute care settings.
Liz obtained her Doctorate in Risk Assessment for Patient Discharge from Hospital from the University of Manchester (2014-2018), funded by a NIHR Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship. She also held a post-doctoral award from Health Education England at Birmingham University, supervised by Professor Annie Topping.
Her research focuses on improving patient discharge processes, including Criteria Led Discharge (CLD), risk assessment methodologies, and nursing advocacy. Key areas include reducing hospital stays through evidence-based protocols, addressing workplace violence against healthcare staff, and delirium management. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in healthcare quality and education.
Recent publications highlight her contributions to CLD implementation, nurse advocacy programs, and research translation. Notable works include a toolkit for quality improvement, studies on CLD benefits, and methodologies for integrating research into clinical practice.
